SHAMORIE PONDS EARNS BIG EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jamaica, NY – St. John’s Red Storm guard, Shamorie Ponds earned Big East Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.
Most recently he led St. John’s to wins over Duke, Villanova, Marquette, and DePaul. During that span the Brooklyn guard averaged 32 points, five rebounds, and five assists. He is currently averaging 21 points, five rebounds, and five assists per game for the season.
During his senior year of high school he earned MVP in the Big Apple Basketball Challenge. He led Thomas Jefferson (Brooklyn) to a 75-74 comeback victory over Cardinal Hayes (Bronx). Ponds posted 26 points, eight rebounds and three steals in the event.
