DRUMMOND AND WALKER NAMED NBA ALL-STARS
Los Angeles, CA – Congratulations to Kemba Walker (left) and Andre Drummond (right) for being selected to the 2018 NBA All-Star game. They both played and earned MVP honors in Big Apple Basketball events when they were in high school.
Walker played in the Big Apple Basketball Challenge (CHSAA vs. PSAL) in 2005 and 2006, and also played in the Big Apple Basketball Invitational in 2007. Overall, he went 2-1 in Big Apple Basketball events playing for Rice High School in Harlem. They suffered a 57-56 loss to Robeson during Walker’s sophomore year (two points, three rebounds, one assist in 14 minutes), but he bounced back the next season to earn MVP against Thomas Jefferson in a 67-50 victory. Later on during Walker’s junior season he posted 19 points and helped lead Rice to a 71-49 win over Niagara Falls High School who was led by McDonald’s All-American Jonny Flynn.
In 2011, Drummond was named 2nd Team All-Tournament in the Big Apple Basketball Invitational as a junior at St.Thomas More (CT). He totaled 17 points and 11 rebounds in a 73-59 victory over Quality Education (NC).
